Makeup Junky’s creator has more training and hands on experience under her belt than most. She has worked for the most respected makeup and skin care companies in the world, including Estee Lauder and Prescriptives. She has also trained under professional celebrity makeup artists Debra Macki, Rick DeCecca and Barbara Hairston(Sex In The City). During her work for various high end makeup companies, Mattie realized what they lacked–personal and natural choices. She felt the consumers she served were getting lost in the endless choices which only seemed to result in confusion and frustration. Larger makeup lines also tended to put women into general categories and not see each face as an individual.
The colors and choices she has already created are modeled after unique women from all walks of life. Mattie served in the U.S. Army for 12 years and traveled the world embracing the uniqueness and individuality of those she encountered. As an Army wife now, she continues to meet women of all backgrounds and heritages which inspire her creativity. Many of her current colors and shades are named after the remarkable and exceptional women she met along the way. She outlines their distinctive characteristics, inside and out, and encourages new clients to find choices that fit their own features and coloring.
As for her choice of ingredients, Makeup Junky’s creator knows natural is best. Through her experiences with the larger name brand cosmetic lines, Mattie felt the use of synthetic materials just didn’t make sense. Many of the synthetic components used in larger lines have not even been tested for safety, much less long term affects . Chemicals we can’t even pronounce don’t logically belong on our faces all day long. Our faces and skin are irreplaceable and Makeup Junky cosmetics understands its value. All manufacturing of Makeup Junky products are free of chemicals and are not tested on animals. The only animal by product used is beeswax. Vegan products which contain absolutely no animal products or by-products are also available.
In honor of her service to our country, Mattie will design an American Hero lip color product with proceeds going to support our troops and their families. Baby Girl lip color proceeds will go to children’s charities. Proceeds from Power Pink lip color will be donated to breast cancer organizations. Makeup Junky also plans to include skin care, bath and body, hair care products, and eventually a flagship store.
